The oldest retired FDNY member, Anthony Aquaro, dies at the age of 103

NEW YORK (WABC) — The oldest retired FDNY member was recently buried.

Anthony Aquaro died last week at the age of 103.

Aquaro joined the department in 1953 and spent 26 years as a firefighter.

Mayor Eric Adams, in a statement on social media, wrote: “Mr. Aquaro “lived a good, honorable life, serving not only his city, but also his country during World War II.”

Aquaro was a month shy of his 104th birthday.
