NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old man in Indore allegedly took his own life citing harassment from his wife and her family, police said on Wednesday.
In his suicide note titled Nitin Padiyar accused women of abusing the law and called on the government to reform the law to prevent further suffering for men and their families.
The incident took place on Monday evening at Padiyar’s house in the Banganga Police Station area.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramsanehi Mishra stated that the note named Padiyar’s wife, mother-in-law and other relatives, accusing them of molestation.
The police have launched an investigation and legal action will be taken based on its findings. Authorities added that an autopsy was performed.
In his note, Padiyar wrote, “I, Nitin Padiyar, request the Government of India to change the law in the country as it is being abused by women. If no changes are made, countless men and their families will continue to suffer every day.” He also advised young people to avoid marriage or enter into marriage only through a formal contract.
Padiyar further urged those who read his note to seek justice for him after his death if they believe he has been wronged, warning: “If not, wait your turn.”
The case is reminiscent of the recent incident in Bengaluru where 34-year-old technology executive Atul Subhash, who died by suicide, left a note and video detailing alleged harassment by his estranged wife and her family, along with references to ongoing cases. legal disputes.
