Woman arrested at OR Tambo International Airport for fraud

CAPITAL – Border Police arrested a woman at OR Tambo International Airport for card cloning fraud.

The 34-year-old suspect was caught on Tuesday as she was returning to Qatar by plane.

Between 2017 and 2018, the suspect was allegedly involved in stealing customer card details while employed at a car rental company at Cape Town International Airport.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly passed customers’ banking information to a syndicate producing cloned cards.

“Customers suffered financial losses of Rs 400,000. The suspect will appear in court at Kempton Park on January 22 and will then be transferred to Cape Town,” Hawks spokeswoman Zinzi Hani said.
