In a tragic train accident 11 passengers Lucknow-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Pushpak Express killed and five injured after they got off the train and were hit by Karnataka Express coming from another direction in Jalgaon district Maharashtra.

What caused the train accident?

According to officials, a chain pulling incident took place on Pushpak Express following rumors of a train fire around 5 p.m. between Maheji and Pardhade stations.

“The train stopped and several passengers of the coach got off. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Express, heading towards the opposition, was crossing the next track,” Central Railway CPRO Swapnil Kumar Leela said in a video.

“We also asked nearby hospitals for help. The railway accident medical van has also left Bhusawal and will reach the spot soon…Karnataka Express has resumed its onward journey and Pushpak Express will resume its journey after providing assistance to the injured passengers,” Leela told ANI.

Nashik divisional commissioner Praveen Gedam told ANI that additional SP, SP, Collector and other officials were on their way to the accident site.

“We are cooperating with DRM and railway officials. According to the latest information, 8 ambulances have arrived at the site, additional PKP and PKP rescue vehicles are being sent to the site,” he added.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis posted the following statement on X: “The tragic incident that left several people dead near Pachora in Jalgaon district is deeply depressing. I pay them my sincerest tribute.”

“My colleague Chief Minister Girish Mahajan and the Superintendent of Police have reached the spot and the district collector will reach there soon. The entire district administration is cooperating with the railway administration and immediate arrangements are being made for treatment of the injured,” Fadnavis said in a post in Marathi.

“Eight ambulances were dispatched. The general hospital and other nearby private hospitals are ready to treat the injured. Emergency equipment has also been prepared, such as glass cutters, floodlights, etc. We are monitoring the entire situation and immediately provide all necessary assistance. I am in contact with the district authorities,” he added.
