Person on electric scooter in critical condition after crash in Central Valley

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metro Police are investigating a crash in the Central Valley that left one person in critical condition.

LVMPD report from Jan. 24 at approximately 2:37 p.m., an SUV collided with a pedestrian near East Karen and Paradise.

According to evidence and witness statements from investigators, the driver of a 2015 Toyota 4Runner was traveling east on Karen Street.

It was determined that the driver of the Toyota was 52-year-old Mitchell Kelly.

As Kelly approached the intersection, she turned left on a flashing yellow light.

The pedestrian, identified as 41-year-old Carrion Lampin, Jose Daniel, was riding a Kukirin G4 e-scooter westbound.

Police say the driver and pedestrian entered the intersection at the same time, which caused the scooter driver to hit the right side of the Toyota.

The rider was thrown into the street.

Authorities said the pedestrian was taken to Sunrise Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Initial findings show that the driver remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment.

The incident remains under investigation.
