A woman from Bangladesh murdered in India as a result of “sexual assault”: police

The police say that a woman from Bangladesh was allegedly “harassed on a sexual background” and murdered in the Indian city of Bengaluru.

A 28-year-old woman, who worked as a home help in Kalkere, was probably murdered on Thursday, and her body was thrown to Lake Kalkere in Ramamurty Nagar, the police in Bengalur said.

Her body was found on Friday (January 24) – said Ramesh Banoth, a joint police commissioner at the Eastern Bengalur department.

“It looks like she has experienced sexual violence,” he said, adding that the case of chapters regarding murder and rape was registered.

He said that Bangladeszka had lived in Bengalur with her husband and three children for the last six years and dealt with cleaning in the apartment.

On Thursday, the woman left the apartment after finishing work. However, she did not return home.

A team of forensic experts arrived, which inspected.

Banoth said that the woman’s husband came to India legally. However, the victim entered the country illegally, without a passport.

“On the basis of a complaint lodged by her husband, we registered a case of sexual assault and murder and we are investigating,” added a police officer.

The body was sent to the autopsy.
