The family of Bill Safos files an unlawful death against the driver of the accused in his death

Lakewood, Ohio (Woio) – the family of Bill Safos filed an unlawful death for death against the police man Lakewood identified as a driver who struck him dead in December.

According to Lakewood City officials, 29-year-old Zachary Saliba is accused of a crime of tightened murder of vehicles.

Safos died of injury after he was hit by a car on December 11, 2024 at Madison Avenue near Orchard Grove Avenue in Lakewood.

Jeff Heller, a partner in Nurekrberg Paris, represents the Safos family.

He said the family had filed a closure lawsuit.

“This case, both a criminal and civilian case, will end the family. They expected Bill to return home within a few minutes of this event, “said Heller. “The next thing they know that they receive a phone call from the police in Lakewood, which is literally blocks from his home, calling his parents to tell them that they think Bill died and still fight with it every day.”

According to the lawsuit, Salib rode recklessly to Madison Avenue, which has a speed limit of 25 miles per hour and is one of the most traveled by pedestrians in the city.

“At his own discretion, the accused Saliba rode in this area at a speed of at least 47 miles per hour,” said the lawsuit.

Heller said Safos wants justice after his premature death.

“Reaching the point where we can get justice for them and pull the driver to be responsible, will allow him to get some form of closing,” said Heller. “It will never change what happened, but will help the family close some of this and start the healing process.”
