The Indian Army has developed a new, high-speed and cost-effective aerial system called the Kharga Kamikaze drone, which can be used for intelligence and surveillance purposes. According to the official, the drone is a light aerial vehicle that can travel at a speed of 40 meters per second.

The Kharga drone can carry up to 700 grams of explosives and is equipped with a navigation system with a high-resolution camera. It is said to have countermeasures against jamming the enemy’s electromagnetic spectrum with a range of approximately one and a half kilometers.

It was built at a cost of approximately Rs 30,000 and can be used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance purposes as well as kamikaze attacks on enemy forces.

The Kharga drone is also able to avoid detection by enemy radars. Known as a type of “suicide” drones, it can easily destroy enemy targets. The official said similar drones were used during the Russia-Ukraine war.

Earlier, the Kharga Corps of the Indian Army successfully conducted a two-day integrated firing exercise ‘Kharga Shakti’ at the Mahajan Ranges. According to an official statement, this comprehensive exercise was intended to test and validate the effectiveness of combined military operations in a simulated battlefield environment.

Soldiers demonstrated their combat readiness through live-fire exercises, tactical movements and air support missions using cutting-edge technologies such as swarm drones, loitering munition systems, quadcopters and logistics drones.

Lt Gen Pushkar also interacted with the troops and emphasized the commitment of the Armed Forces to maintain a high state of readiness and operational excellence.

He praised the soldiers for demonstrating exceptional professional competence and expressed confidence in the ability of the Kharga Corps to maintain decisive strength in future operations on the Western Front.

Exercise ‘Kharga Shakti’ demonstrates the Indian Army’s focus on modern combat techniques and its commitment to ensuring the highest standards of combat readiness, he added.
