Santa Rosa police say this is the second time in as many weeks that a student has been caught at school with a loaded gun

Authorities in Santa Rosa arrested a 16-year-old Montgomery High School student Wednesday morning after finding a loaded handgun in his school locker, authorities said in a news release.

For the second time in as many weeks, a teenager was arrested at Santa Rosa High School after authorities found him on campus with a loaded gun.

A 16-year-old Montgomery High School student was arrested Wednesday after a loaded handgun was discovered in his school locker, according to Santa Rosa police.

The teenager is in juvenile detention on charges of possessing a loaded handgun on campus and possession of a handgun by a minor.

Police said they were called to the school shortly before 10:45 a.m. after an administrator reported a possible firearm on campus.

The report came from a STOPit notification and stated that three 16-year-old students may have firearms, officials said, adding that the school immediately notified police.

According to a police press release, police found and initially detained all three boys. However, after an investigation, it was determined that only one of them had a weapon, officials said.

Officers who arrived at the scene recovered a pistol and a loaded magazine from the boy’s locker, officials say.

Last week, on October 24, Santa Rosa police arrested another 16-year-old student, this time from Elsie Allen High School, who was found with a loaded handgun and ammunition in his backpack.

No injuries were reported in any incident and each weapon was seized by police.
