Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em kickers: Week 9 fantasy football

Fantasy football managers had to make a difficult decision in Week 7 when Brandon Aubrey it was goodbye. Now consecutive bye weeks are weakening the fantasy kicker rankings Week 9 and creating difficult decisions to start with, sit down.

Especially, Chris Boswell will be closed in week 9. The Pittsburgh Steelers kicker is related Austin Seibert for leading the league in field goals made (23), so Boswell owners will have to switch to the streaming option for at least a week.

The San Francisco 49ers are also disabled in Week 9, eliminating a potential top-tier streamer. The 49ers rank third in the NFL with an average of 2.9 field goals per game, so Anders Carlson would be a solid pick-up truck, pending recovery Jake Moody AND Matthew Wrightt if the 49ers were playing.

Instead, fantasy football owners must turn to different kickers for trust. Who is the best pick among the 30 kickers in action? Here are a few that you can trust that will fade away in week 9.

NFL POWER RANKINGS WEEK 9: The NFC East puts the Commanders and Eagles in the top 10, but how high?

Start your fantasy football game: Week 9 Kickers

Will Reichard, Minnesota Vikings (compared Indianapolis Colts)

Reichard has made at least two field goals in five of his last six games and is averaging 2.9 extra points per game this season. The Vikings rookie has yet to miss a single shot and will now face a Colts defense that has allowed 2.4 field goals per game. That makes Reichard Boswell’s high-flying replacement for the week.

Chad Ryland, Arizona Cardinals (compared Chicago Bears)

Many remember Ryland from his struggles as a rookie New England Patriotsbut he played well as a replacement for the injured player Matt Prater. Ryland made at least two field goals in three of his four starts and showed the ability to make game-winning kicks. As long as he’s confident, he can be trusted against a Bears defense that allows the second-most field goals per game (2.6).

Chicago also allowed Washington’s commanders made five field goals against them in Week 8. The Cardinals have a similarly structured offense. Both feature mobile point guards with top-shelf talent, so they could find plenty of opportunities this week as well.

Dustin Hopkins, Cleveland Browns (compared Los Angeles Chargers)

Hopkins is a risky start, but he’s fresh off a game against Liverpool in which he scored three field goals Baltimore Ravens and should receive more opportunities each week Jameis Winston instead of running the show Deshaun Watson. The Chargers allow the opposing team to make just 1.9 field goals per game, but this is primarily to support the Cleveland offense, which scored a season-high 401 yards and 29 points against the Ravens.

ADDITIONAL FANTASY FOOTBALL ADD-ONS: Eight players to choose from for Week 9 of the NFL

Fantasy Football Sit ’em: Week 9 Kickers

Brandon McManus, Green Bay Packers (compared Detroit Lions)

Trust McManus Malik Willis playing point guard might not seem like a bad move. Brayden Narvenson has averaged three field goal attempts per game in Willis’ three starts, so perhaps he can move the ball enough to give McManus a chance.

There is only one problem with this theory. The Packers play a Lions team that averages the league’s highest average of 33.4 points per game. Green Bay will have a hard time keeping up when kicking field goals, so Matt LaFleur may be more aggressive than usual when the Packers are in scoring range. That makes McManus a potential candidate to be busted, especially considering the Lions have limited two of their last three opponents to 14 points or less.

Chase McLaughlin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (On Kansas City Chiefs)

McLaughlin had a decent performance in Week 8 against Atlanta Falconshe scored three extra points and hit his lone field goal, a 52-yard field goal. This matchup will be a tough one for Baker Mayfield and Co. as the Chiefs are allowing just 17.6 points per game (fifth-fewest in the league) and are performing well against 2024 receivers (league-low 760 yards per position). Without Chris Godwin (cube) i Mike Evans (hamstring), the Bucs will likely have difficulty moving the ball, making McLaughlin a less common option in Week 9.

Blake Group, New Orleans Saints (On Carolina Panthers)

Many will look at Grupe’s strong performance in Week 1 against the Panthers and assume he can start playing. He ended up making four field goals in the contest, including two from over 50 yards, and converted all five extra points.

That said, the Saints offense isn’t as strong right now as it was in Week 1. New Orleans has dealt with several key injuries to its offensive line, while the No. 2 offense Rashid Shaheed out of the game due to a knee injury.

The Saints should continue to move the ball against a Panthers defense that has struggled with playmakers, but Grupe won’t have nine kicking opportunities like he did in Week 1. He could still be a top 15 kicker, but there are safer options available than him , especially if Derek Carr (oblique) is not ready to return to the lineup.
