Brooklyn Park Police say one person is dead after a vehicle plunged into a creek

Brooklyn Park police said one person died Thursday morning after their vehicle overturned and plunged into a creek.

Emergency crews were called to the crash near the intersection of Green Haven Drive and County Road 81 around 8:25 a.m. The 911 caller said the vehicle had overturned.

Upon arrival at the scene, emergency services found that the vehicle had left County Road 81, overturned and became submerged in water. Police said that although firefighters tried to extricate the driver, the river was flowing higher and faster than usual due to the rain.

Tow trucks pulled the vehicle from the stream, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
