ECI inmate death under investigation by Maryland State Police

WESTOVER, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at Eastern Correctional Facility in Somerset County.

As we were told, on September 21, investigators contacted the MSP Homicide Department regarding the death of an inmate. It was reported that an inmate, identified as 38-year-old Virgil Robinson, was found unconscious in his cell at 5:10 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they have identified a person of interest, who is also an inmate. Charges will be laid pending the results of the investigation and the results of the autopsy.
