Neil Gaiman sexual assault allegations: more women come forward

More and more women are reporting allegations of sexual assault to the author Neil Gaimanincluding a woman who worked as a nanny for Gaiman. History in New York Magazinereleased early Monday morning, takes an in-depth look at Gaiman’s life, marriage and split from Palmer, and the assault and harassment allegations that first surfaced against the author last year.

Eight of Gaiman’s accusers have spoken out about the case – including four who have spoken out previously shared his claims on the 2024 podcast number Master: Allegations against Neil Gaiman — although it largely focuses on the claims of former nanny Scarlett Pavlovich. New York Magazine I also reviewed text messages and emails between the women and friends, as well as messages sent between Gaiman and the women.

Gaiman has not commented on the matter, although he has denied several specific claims through legal representatives. Gaiman has it he denied the earlier allegations against him, claiming that all his relationships were consensual. Palmer also did not speak out on the matter, although several of her friends did. Gaiman’s representatives did not immediately respond Rolling Stonerequest for comment.

Pavlovich, who became friends with Palmer in June 2020, began working as a nanny for Gaiman and Palmer in New Zealand in February 2022 (the couple finalized their divorce later that year). She alleges that Gaiman raped, assaulted and humiliated her on multiple occasions, including one incident that she claims occurred in a small hotel room while Gaiman and Palmer’s son were also in the room and playing on an iPad.

According to Pawłowicz, the first alleged attack occurred on the first day she was caring for the child. Gaiman and Palmer’s son had been on a date for most of the day, so Pavlovich says Gaiman offered her the opportunity to soak in the claw-foot tub in the garden. She did so, but was surprised when Gaiman returned naked and allegedly got into the bathtub with her and asked Pavlowicz to sit on her lap.

“The next part is really shapeless,” Pavlovich said New York. “But I can tell you he stuck his fingers right up my ass and tried to stick my dick up my ass. And I said, “No, no.” He then tried to rub his penis between my breasts and I also said no. Then he asked if he could come on my face and I said no, but he did it anyway. He said, “Call me master and I will come.” He said, “Be a good girl.” You’re a good little girl.’”

Shortly thereafter, according to texts reviewed by New YorkPalmer asked Pawłowicz not only if she would babysit again, but if she would consider staying in the home for the foreseeable future. Pawlowicz, who was broke and had struggled with homelessness in the past, agreed.

She also admitted feeling confused after the attack, saying: “You’re not thinking in a linear or logical way, but your mind is trying to process it as much as it can.”

After accepting Palmer’s offer, Pavlovich texted Gaiman: “I’m consumed with thoughts of you and what you will do to me. I’m so hungry. What a horrible creature you have turned me into.

According to the magazine, when Palmer and Gaiman divorced, Palmer’s friends said that Palmer “still believed in (Gaiman’s) decency” and even warned Gaiman to stay away from Pawlowicz: “I especially remember her saying, ‘You could really hurt that person and break him; keep your hands off her,” said one friend, whose name does not appear in this story.

However, according to Pawłowicz, Gaiman attacked her repeatedly. She accused Gaiman of forcing her to perform oral sex while his penis was covered in urine, and in another instance he allegedly forced his penis into her mouth with such force that Pavlowicz vomited. She told the magazine that Gaiman told her to lick vomit from his lap and the couch.

However, according to Pawłowicz, Gaiman attacked her repeatedly. She claims Gaiman ordered her to perform oral sex while his penis was covered in urine, and once allegedly forced his penis into her mouth with such force that Pavlowicz vomited. Gaiman then allegedly ordered her to lick vomit from his lap and the couch.

She also accused Gaiman of beating her with a belt and then anally raping her, first without lubrication and then using butter as a lubricant. Later, Gaiman allegedly called Pawlowicz a “slave” and told her to “clean him up.” Pawlowicz initially refused, to which he claims Gaiman replied, “Do you defy your master?” Pawłowicz said she “had to lick her own shit.”

Other women also said Gaiman told them to call him “Master,” and Pawłowicz even claims that after a week of working as a nanny, Gaiman and Palmer’s son began demanding that she call him “Master.” Gaiman allegedly once told his child, “Well, Scarlett is not a slave. No, it’s not allowed.

However, according to Pawlowicz, Gaiman did not seem to have boundaries around his son. She claimed that she once sat with Gaiman and the boy as they watched a television program. Gaiman allegedly put his arm around both of them and then grabbed Pawlowicz’s breasts under her shirt.

The incident at the hotel allegedly occurred on February 19, 2022. The story shows that Gaiman sometimes took his son to the hotel for a night as a treat, and this time Pawłowicz claims that he asked her to look after the child while he received a massage. Later that night, while the boy was playing on his iPad, Pawlowicz said Gaiman claimed Gaiman pulled Pawlowicz onto the lone double bed in the room, covered it with a duvet, and began having sex with her while talking to their son. Pawlowicz said she mouthed, “What the fuck are you doing?” to Gaiman. He remembers telling his son, “You really should ditch the iPad.”

Pawlowicz then claimed that Gaiman went to the bathroom, urinated on his hand, returned to bed and told Pawlowicz to “lick it up.” Gaiman then allegedly returned to the bathroom naked from the waist down and demanded oral sex from Pavlowicz before she could leave while the door was still open.

Gaiman, through his legal representatives, has denied the allegations, calling them “false, not to mention deplorable.”

Pavlovich said she eventually told Palmer about some of these alleged incidents (including the bathhouse and hotel room), although she did not characterize them as sexual assault at the time. According to one of Palmer’s friends, musician Lance Horne, Palmer called Gaiman that evening and asked about the alleged incident in the hotel room and whether their son was wearing headphones. Horne said Gaiman replied “no” and then hung up.

Pavlovich shared a text she later received from Gaiman: “Amanda tells me you’re going through a difficult time and are really angry with me for what we did. I feel terrible about this. Would you like to talk about it? Can I do something to make it better?” Pawłowicz expressed hope that she would be able to fix the situation, and the next day she replied: “Hi. We’ll talk soon… I hope you’re doing well.”

Pawłowicz also talked about Gaiman with a friend named Misha Anaru. Both Anaru and her partner Kris Taylor, a psychology major who has lectured on coercion, consent and rape, have stated that they believe Gaiman raped Pavlovich, even though Pavolvich did not use that word or “sexual assault” to describe it , What happened. Anaru exchanged text messages between herself and Palmer, in which Anaru stated that “most of my rage is directed at Neil”, but also expressed her dismay at Palmer for putting Pawlowicz in such a situation. “Didn’t you see it coming from a mile away?” Anaru wrote.

In another text message exchange between Pawłowicz and Gaiman, Gaiman mentioned Anaru’s text messages that Palmer allegedly told him about. “I am a monster at this and Amanda clearly bought this line and sinker,” Gaiman wrote. He also apologized for “causing any disturbance” in Pavlowicz’s life, adding: “I thought we did the right thing and it was indeed consensual.”

Pavlovich said she felt “disconnected from everyone else” at the time and was worried about upsetting Gaiman. She texted him back: “It was consensual (and wonderful!),” adding that Anaru “was triggered by something, I guess.”

Pawłowicz’s accusations, like others against Gaiman, often concern acts associated with BDSM (bondage, domination, sadism and masochism). Although several of Gaiman’s accusers claim that they agreed with Gaiman at one point, they also claim that he often crossed the key boundaries required by BDSM: that all parties consent to every action.

Two women who championed the story and who have never spoken to each other compared Gaiman to an anglerfish luring its prey with a bioluminescent light bulb: “Instead of light,” said one, “there was a soft-spoken British man hanging there.

Another woman who spoke in this story, Kendra Stout, claims she met Gaiman when she was 18, in 2003. “He talked at length about the dominant and submissive relationship he wanted from me,” Stout said, although he claimed he never asked what that meant. she wanted, nor did they establish any of the “safe words,” “aftercare,” or “limits” that are standard elements of BDSM negotiations. Stout said Gaiman once penetrated her with his finger and penis while she had a painful UTI and she told him, “No.” Last October, she filed a police report against Gaiman. (Gaiman’s representative did not immediately return.) Rolling Stonerequest for comment.)

Pavlovich filed her own police report against Gaiman in New Zealand in January 2023, accusing him of sexual assault. A spokesman said the “case has been closed.”
