A state trooper was seriously injured in a crash in Colonie near Northway

A New York State Trooper is being treated for serious injuries at Albany Medical Center after being struck by a pickup truck near Exit 7 of the Northway in Colonie.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Saturday when an officer was assisting in towing a vehicle, which resulted in the closure of the two right lanes on the Northway. According to authorities, both the officer and the tow truck operator were hit by a passing truck.

Although the tow truck driver suffered only minor injuries, the pickup driver was arrested. New York State Police are urging anyone with information about the crash to call 518-457-6811 or email. (email protected).
