Victim of Friday’s shooting in Chester identified – Delco Times

One of the victims of Friday’s shooting on the basketball courts at Memorial Park in Chester has died.

Chester Police Commissioner Stephen Gretsky said 18-year-old Montera Wilson died in hospital.

Police were alerted at 3:41 p.m. in reference to a possible fight at the park in the 2300 block of West Seventh Street.

Gretsky said in a briefing note that after entering the area, officers observed a large group fighting and heard numerous gunshots.

Officers found Wilson with a gunshot wound to his lower back. She was given help and taken to hospital.

During the investigation, a second victim arrived at the hospital and was identified as a 17-year-old youth. He suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.

Gretsky said that based on the time and location of the incident, police know there were several people in the area who witnessed the shooting.

“I am asking members of the community to come forward and contact the detectives in my department,” Gretsky said.
