Two children died in an LPG explosion in Kaithal, Haryana

Two children were killed and many family members injured in the early hours of Monday when an LPG cylinder exploded at a house in Cheeka village in Kaithal.

The deceased were identified as 16-year-old Komal and 3-year-old Surbhi, who were initially taken to the government hospital in Guhla along with other injured people.

However, all of them were referred to a government hospital in Patiala, but the girls died on the way due to their injuries. Authorities said the injured were being treated in Patiala.

Neighbors say the explosion occurred between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., while the family was sleeping, and caused extensive damage to the house and neighboring buildings. Cracks appeared in many nearby structures.

After the explosion, neighbors alerted the emergency services and ran to the house to save the trapped people. Nearby houses were also evacuated for the safety of residents.

Guhla Congress MLA Devender Hans also reached the spot and asked the officials concerned to assess the affected building to avoid further damage.

Police said it was likely a cylinder explosion and the exact cause of the explosion was being investigated.

A father and daughter duo dies in a hit-and-run

Meanwhile, in another part of the district, a father-daughter duo died on Sunday evening after their electric bike was allegedly hit head-on by a speeding car near Pai village in Pundri district on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

The deceased were identified as 27-year-old Balinder and 2-year-old Himanshi, who died during treatment. Four passengers in the car were also injured in the accident.

The man’s cousin Ramphal told the police that Balinder was riding his two-wheeler with his daughter when a speeding car hit him and they fell a long distance.

Police said a case had been initiated against the unidentified driver of the car.
