Husband of former mayor and BRS leader attacked by auto-rickshaw driver over land dispute in Nizamabad – Telangana News

Former mayor and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Dandu Neethu Kiran’s husband Dandu Chandrasekhar was brutally attacked by an auto-rickshaw driver in Nizamabad in Telangana on Monday. The attack, which took place near the local corporation’s office, left Chandrasekhar with serious head injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Nizamabad police identified the attacker as Shaik Rasool, an auto-rickshaw driver who reportedly attacked Chandrasekhar after a heated argument over a land dispute. A case has been registered against Rasool and the authorities are actively investigating the matter.

In a video statement released after the attack, Rasool claimed responsibility for the assault, saying his actions were out of frustration over the land issue. He accused Chandrasekhar of encroaching on his property and demanding compensation of Rs 2 lakh. Rasool further alleged that Gopal, a close associate of Chandrasekhar, was part of a land grabbing gang.

“My land has been under illegal occupation for three years. Despite repeated requests for his release, I faced threats. When I approached Chandrasekhar today to solve this problem, I felt offended. In a moment of rage, I responded. If I had not acted, I would have feared for my life,” Rasool explained in his video statement.

Rasool, claiming to be a Congress supporter, appealed to the party leadership to intervene and help him get his land back. Further investigations into the attack and the underlying land dispute are ongoing.
