Oxford baby death: Woman charged with neglect after infant’s death; is due in court today

A woman was charged with child neglect after the baby died in “unexplained” circumstances four months ago.

Two-month-old Kevin Chen died at home in Oxford, North Canterbury, about 70km northwest of the city Christchurch – August 5.

Police initially described the sudden death as “unexplained.”

The woman has now been charged with ill-treatment or neglect of a child under 18 and another charge.

She is expected to appear in the Christchurch District Court this morning.
