‘Beloved son’ who died after being hit by Volvo, police named as 20-year-old Henry Farron

The name of a young man who died after being hit by a car in Edinburgh has been released.

Henry Farron, described as a “beloved son and brother”, was walking on Dundee Street when he was hit by a gray Volvo at around 5.30pm on Sunday.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and pronounced the 20-year-old dead.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, his family said: “We are devastated by the death of our beloved son and brother Henry.

“He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.”

The driver of the Volvo, a 51-year-old man, was arrested and released pending further investigation, which is ongoing.

Sergeant Dave Waddell said: “Our thoughts remain with Henry’s family and friends as they come to terms with this tragic loss.

“An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing and we continue to appeal to witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.”
