Man allegedly armed with gun during standoff with Clay County sheriff’s deputies

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A man allegedly armed with a gun got into a fight with Northland law enforcement officers Monday night after he allegedly assaulted a woman and refused police orders to leave his home in Pleasant Valley, Missouri.

According to a press release from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 6:20 p.m., when Claycomo and Plesant Valley police officers were called to a domestic disturbance call in the 7100 block of Fulton Road.

When Claycomo officers arrived, a woman and her children emerged from the home.

The woman told officers that the man in the house attacked her, was still in the house and was armed with a gun.

According to the press release, the woman was not seriously injured in the attack.

He refused officers’ orders to leave the home, and Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Special Tactics and Response (STAR) team arrived at the home.

Officers evacuated nearby houses.

They are also trying to find out if anyone other than the suspect is still in the house, according to the press release.

Clay County Sheriff’s Office negotiators are communicating with a man inside the home.
