A woman at a gas station attacks another woman with an axe

PERKINS Twp., Ohio (WTVG) – It’s a fit of rage caught on camera. Newly released video from Perkins Township police shows an ax attack.

This altercation occurred last month at the Mobil gas station at 300 West Perkins Ave. in Perkins Twp. The video shows a woman standing at the counter when another woman enters and takes an ax from her purse.

The attacker then uses an ax to hit the second woman in the head and neck. The footage shows them falling to the floor during the fight and opening the door while an employee approaches them and appears to try to break up the fight.

But that’s not the end.

Witnesses told police that after the attacker left, the woman who was hit reached for an ax that was lying outside. The surveillance footage shows the car speeding up and stopping just before hitting her.

The woman who initiated the attack then gets up from the driver’s seat and, according to the police report, picks up a fluffy sandal that she lost during the fight.

Perkins Twp. Police arrested Tayjion Butler, who was 30 at the time of the attack. She was released from the Erie County Jail on bail and charged with two counts of assault, one for the ax and the other for the car.

As for the 38-year-old woman who was attacked, police said she was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Investigators now say the violent encounter was in retaliation for a separate incident that occurred several months earlier in Sandusky.

Court records show Butler has pleaded not guilty to the two charges against her. He has a preliminary hearing in Sandusky Municipal Court on November 18, 2024.
