Annamalai Shares Photo of Anna University Sexual Assault Accused and Udhayanidhi Stalin to Prove Linkage, DMK Refutes Claims – Tamil Nadu News

BJP state president K Annamalai on Thursday shared a photo on X showing Deputy Prime Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and other DMK leaders along with accused Gnanasekaran during a recent sexual assault case with the participation of a second-year engineering student of Anna University.

Annamalai linked the accused with the DMK, alleging that the criminals develop close links with local party functionaries, which allows them to escape responsibility.

In a post on X, he wrote: “All cases registered against him are suppressed and he gains freedom from being categorized as a historical recorder or put on the watch list of the local police station.”

The AIADMK also criticized the DMK, maintaining that the accused was a DMK functionary. AIADMK chief Edapadi Palaniswamy shared the post on Is it because he belongs to the ruling DMK?”

Kovai Sathyan, AIADMK spokesperson also claimed that the accused is a DMK functionary and the ruling party is hiding the truth.

Reacting to Annamalai’s allegations, Tamil Nadu Law Minister S Regupathy clarified that Gnanasekaran was not even a core member of the DMK. Regupathy rejected the claims that the accused was an official of the DMK student wing, calling them false. He also addressed the circulation of a photo of Gnanasekaran near Udhayanidhi Stalin, stating that it was taken by someone else and there was no connection between them. Regupathy further emphasized that the arrest was made quickly, in less than six hours, and there was no reason for the government to withhold any details.

Gnanasekaran, 37, a resident of Kottur, who ran a biryani stall near the university campus, was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police for allegedly entering the campus, assaulting the victim’s friend and sexually assaulting him at an isolated place.
