Bombay: A district court on Friday granted bail to 27-year-old Aditya Pandit, a resident of Haryana, who was arrested to mitigate the suicide of Air India pilot Srishti Tuli.

Last week, Pandit approached the Dindoshi district court seeking bail, claiming that he was the first to find her hanged and take her to hospital.

Tuli, who lived in a rented apartment near Marol, was found dead on November 25 in the early morning hours. A day later, the police arrested Pandit, with whom Tuli was allegedly in a relationship.

Tula’s father claimed that they spent several days together before she decided to take this radical step. However, on the day of the incident, Pandit left for Delhi around 1 p.m.

It is further alleged that the two had a disagreement over food preferences as Tuli was a non-vegetarian and Pandit was a vegetarian. The applicant alleged that she could commit suicide for this reason alone.

Pandit’s lawyer, Aniket Nikam, however, argued that the complaint filed by her father itself showed that Tuli had spoken to her mother moments before ending her life and sounded normal.

“Just because there were fights between them, it does not mean that the complainant had any criminal intentions. To bring a charge of incitement, it must be shown that the deceased was given no option but to commit suicide. This was intended not to be the case here. The deceased was an educated woman, she could always get out of it, and if she was a victim of harassment by the accused, she could have filed a complaint,” argued Nikam.

Besides, Pandit in his bail application claimed that he was trying to save her life.

“The applicant made the necessary telephone calls to the deceased and found that the deceased was not answering the phone, he himself went to the premises in question, and since she did not open the door, the applicant called a key cutter and opened the door, and then it turned out that she was hanging herself. , and being a law-abiding citizen, he also took her to hospital to save her life, but the said efforts proved fruitless,” Pandit claimed in his bail application.
