Clinton Twp. a man accused of shooting at teenagers in a car has been charged

Authorities announced Wednesday that a 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged shooting of three teenagers in Macomb Township.

Kevin Donte Price, 21, was visiting a friend’s house when he entered the home on Sunday and allegedly tried to argue with a teenager who lived there, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said.

According to the statements, the victim left the house, returned to the car with two of her friends and drove away.

Investigators say Price got into his car and chased the youths before driving alongside their vehicle and shooting him multiple times.

During the shooting, Price’s bullets hit another car. No one was injured.

The three managed to escape and call the police.

“Violence of any kind in our community is unacceptable and we take these incidents extremely seriously,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement. “This reckless and dangerous behavior could have had tragic consequences and we are grateful that no one was injured. My office will work tirelessly to hold this individual accountable.”

Price was charged with 10 felonies, including discharging a weapon from a vehicle and malicious destruction of personal property valued between $1,000 and $20,000. He was also charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and four counts of using a firearm in the commission of a crime.

On Tuesday, Judge James Verploeg arraigned Price in 41A Shelby District Court and set his bail at $500,000.

Price must remain on home confinement, have no contact with any of the victims and remain in Michigan with a GPS cable if he is released.

Verploeg also referred him to the Correctional Center for a mental health evaluation.

Price’s attorney, William Barnwell, declined to comment Wednesday.

A probable cause hearing in his case is scheduled for November 12.

Online court records show an entrance exam is also scheduled for November 19.
