BJP Rajya Sabha member Lahar Singh Siroya used the issue of contractor’s suicide by accusing close rural development aide and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge of harassing him to taunt the minister’s father and AICC president M. Mallikarjun Kharge.

In a social media post, Mr. Siroya said, “While the respected Mallikarjun Kharge Ji is busy saving democracy in Delhi, this is what is happening in his backyard, Kalaburagi Republic. His son, who behaves like a great constitutional scholar, gets into trouble behind him.”

He went on to say, “It’s not the only thing that’s going on. Details about Kharge Ji’s family trusts and land scams are also coming to light one by one. His family trust was recently forced to return 5 acres of KIADB land in Bengaluru, acquired under the Dalit quota. Thanks to Sonia Gandhi’s RTI legislation, the documents are rich in detail.”

He said, “Also due to leadership struggles in @INCKarnataka, information flow is good. “No one has any loyalty to anyone in the State Congress but only to themselves and their Speaker.”

He sneered, remarking, “If Kharge Ji thinks Delhi is far away and nothing will reach there, then he is wrong. I hope that saving democracy is not about saving yourself and your family. At least that was the mantra of the Nehru-Gandhi family.”

Meanwhile, during his release in Bengaluru, Opposition leader R. Ashok urged Priyank Kharge to uphold morality and step down as minister.

He alleged that the accused in the case had a criminal history as he had previously been arrested on charges of possessing illegal weapons.

Mr. Ashok said, “Mr. Priyank Kharge is not the Nizam of Kalaburagi (his home district).”
