Fatal shooting in Delhi: man, teenage nephew dead; his 10-year-old child was injured

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man and his teenage nephew were shot dead and his 10-year-old son injured after two armed men opened fire outside their residence in Delhi’s Shahdara on Thursday, an official said.

While Akash Sharma alias Chottu and his nephew Rishabh Sharma (16) died in the accident, Krish Sharma (10) sustained gunshot injuries, the official said, adding that the victims were celebrating Diwali outside their house in Farsh Bazar area of ​​Shahdara, when they were attacked around 8 p.m.

“After receiving a call for a PCR test, police were dispatched at around 8:30 p.m. The team found blood at the spot,” the official said.

Eyewitnesses told the police that the attackers touched Akash Sharma’s feet and then opened fire on him.

All victims were taken to hospital.

Akash Sharma’s son Krish and nephew Rishabh, who were standing nearby, were also hit by bullets.

The officer said that doctors at the hospital have declared Akash Sharma and Rishabh Sharma dead while Krish Sharma is undergoing treatment.

Police said that prima facie it appears there was personal hostility.

Statements of the victims’ family members will be recorded and further investigation is underway, he added.
