One person dead and two injured in a triple shooting in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating a triple shooting in the Frankford neighborhood.

The incident occurred on Thursday around 9:45 p.m. on Arrott and Leiper streets.

Police confirmed that a 30-year-old man died from his injuries.

A 37-year-old man was also shot in the stomach and his condition is critical in hospital. A 40-year-old woman was also shot once in the leg. Her condition is stable in hospital.

Police say the three were standing together at the apartment complex when someone fired at least 11 shots.

“It appears that the victim who died was most likely the intended target as he was struck multiple times,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department. “The other two victims were shot only once, so it is unclear whether they were hit by an accidental shot or were unintended targets.”

Police don’t know whether the shooter or shooters were in the car or driving by.

There is no description or motive at this time, but police say there are surveillance cameras in the area.

According to the latest data, this is all due to a drop in the city’s homicide rate this year compared to last year.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
