Passenger hit bus conductor’s head with stone in Bengaluru while on duty over monthly pass dispute: report | Bengaluru

In a disturbing incident, a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus conductor was attacked during his lunch break near Tin Factory bus stop. The attack occurred after an argument with a passenger three days earlier regarding the use of a monthly ticket, Indian reported.

A statement published by the BMTC said that an unknown assailant boarded the bus and hit the conductor on the head with a stone. The conductor and the bus driver quickly chased the attacker and with the help of other BMTC employees, they managed to capture him and bring him back to the bus, the report said.

During interrogation, the attacker revealed that a few days earlier he had been a passenger on the same bus and had argued with the conductor over the issue of a monthly ticket, which apparently motivated his brutal actions.

The conductor received prompt medical attention at CV Raman Hospital, thanks to the quick actions of the depot manager and the traffic controller. Fortunately, his injuries were not serious, the publication wrote.

After the incident, BMTC officials lodged a formal complaint at Mahadevapura police station. The report added that the suspect, identified as Hemanth, is currently in police custody.

This incident reflects recent security concerns within the BMTC system. In another incident, a 25-year-old man stabbed a bus conductor in a crowded vehicle near Whitefield, sparking widespread panic. The investigation showed that the attacker intended to attack his former employer. A video of the incident was posted on social media.

Additionally, a separate incident involved the suspension of a BMTC conductor after a viral video showed him physically confronting a passenger 5 changes in the dispute. He was heard demanding the passenger to speak Kannada.
