Homicide reported in east Indianapolis neighborhood – Indianapolis News | Weather in Indiana | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man later died at the hospital and another was injured after a shooting Friday evening in a residential neighborhood on the city’s east side, Indianapolis police said Saturday morning.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department did not release the names of the man who died or the man who was injured in the homicide report released Saturday morning. The Marion County Coroner’s Office may release the name of a man who died as early as Monday.

Police were called just after 7 p.m. Friday for a report of a person shot in the 3600 block of North Dearborn Street. It’s about a few blocks north of East 34th Street, between North Keystone Avenue and North Sherman Drive.

The IMPD homicide report says officers found evidence of shots fired along Dearborn Street, but around the corner at 3500 North Lasalle Street, investigators found one man with at least one gunshot wound and another with a minor cut wound.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died shortly thereafter, IMPD reported Saturday morning.

The IMPD homicide report does not indicate whether anyone was detained or arrested. The report also did not specify what may have led to the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact IMPD Detective David Miller at 317-327-3475 or [email protected].
