Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park will be closed amid lawsuit over crash that killed 9-year-old girl

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KABC) — Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park has announced it will be closing following a recent lawsuit over a crash that killed a 9-year-old girl.

Brooke Carlton died in June following a “freak accident.”

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said the girl was in an off-road vehicle track on an electric motorcycle and was hit by another child who was also riding a dirt bike.

The second child was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and Brooke was taken to hospital, where she later died.

According to – a statement posted on Saturday on the park’s Instagram accountthe property owner terminated the contract.

“It was their decision that it was in their best interest to close the track,” the statement read.

“Although there were many challenges along the way, we thoroughly enjoyed operating the track. I think we were lucky to have such a great group of customers and also such great people working at the track. It was an honor and a pleasure to see you all on the track.”

A meeting was scheduled for Sunday for one last ride around the park.
