Homa Bay: SDA pastor returning from church dies in tragic motorcycle collision

Homa Bay – A family from Rongo in Migori County is mourning the tragic death of Pastor Ken Odira who died in a motorcycle accident.

The accident occurred while Odira was returning from church on Saturday, November 2, when his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle coming from him Kisiiwhich led to serious head injuries.

How did Pastor Ken Odira die?

Odira’s sister, Beryl Odira, expressed shock and sadness at the sudden loss of her brother. I’m talking to TUKO.co.ke– she said number events after the accident:

“His motorcycle collided with another in Oyugis. He was rushed to Agoro Sare District Hospital but they could not save him, leading to his transfer to Oasis Hospital in Kisii. Due to his critical condition, Oasis then referred him to Tenwek Hospital where he was unable to undergo surgery due to the extent of his unconsciousness. He died before treatment.”

“The doctors told us that the effect on his brain was so severe that he couldn’t be helped. This is how he died on the morning of Sunday, November 3,” added Odira’s close friend, Evance Chiro.

The deceased, also a solo artist, studied theology at the University of Bugema, Uganda serving as a pastor in the Misida District of Rangwe, where he was highly regarded for his inspiring teachings and sermons.

Beryl said her brother was preparing to formalize his marriage plans.

“We are devastated. My brother was supposed to pay his fiancée’s dowry today before their wedding in March 2025. He was so promising that it surprised us,” she said.

Pastor Ken Odira’s body was transferred from Tenwek Hospital to Gendia Mission Hospital mortuary for further examination.

Several were feared dead in the Thika road accident

In other news, there were a few people it was feared that he had died after a tragic accident in the Ndarugo area along Thika Way.

The accident occurred on Thursday, October 30, after a truck collided with a private passenger car.

According to eyewitnesses, another vehicle spilled oil on the road, making it slippery and obstructing the movement of vehicles, leading to an accident.
