A woman allegedly kills her boyfriend with cyanide and tries to commit suicide by driving off a cliff

Tran Nguyen Thu Trang, 39, was arrested by police in Lam Dong Province in the Central Highlands on Thursday on suspicion of murder.

Trang admitted to purchasing cyanide via social media last month and using it to kill her lover, a 39-year-old man, due to relationship problems.

She poisoned the man with cyanide while the two were traveling from Dong Thap in the Mekong Delta to HCMC on October 20. She then transported the victim’s body to an apartment in HCMC’s 7th District before deciding to dump it in Lam Dong.

On October 21, she went to Bao Loc Pass in Lam Dong, looking for a place to implement her plan. Around noon, she drove her car off the edge of the pass “with the intention of committing suicide,” she added.

The vehicle was severely damaged, but Trang escaped with minor injuries.

The authorities were notified about the incident, and several dozen officers and soldiers arrived at the scene to carry out a rescue operation. However, evidence at the scene and the condition of the man’s body indicated that he had died before the crash.

After several days of investigation and forensic analysis, police determined that Trang had murdered the man.
