2 dead in crash on Gene Snyder near New Cut Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Two people are dead following a wrong-way crash on I-265 South on Sunday, November 3.

Louisville police said around 1:40 a.m. officers were called to Gene Snyder just outside the New Cut Road interchange, where they found the wreck.

The initial investigation, along with witness statements, revealed that the man entered the interstate at Dixie Highway in the northbound lanes and collided with the woman’s car at mile marker 5.8.

LMPD said both cars suffered significant damage. Emergency services attempted to free the man and woman, but paramedics determined they both died at the scene in their vehicles.

The police say that at the moment they do not know whether the wrong-way driver was sober or not.

After the collision, southbound lanes were blocked for several hours.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.
