Hyderabad: First-year intermediate student Kotla Avinash (16) died by suicide at his home in Medchal on Saturday evening.

The victim, who was pursuing an intermediate course in a private school in Kompally, was staying in the hostel. He returned home for the Diwali festival.

“Reports indicate that the boy was not interested in studying in college and did not want to go to a hostel. On Saturday evening, he hanged himself from the ceiling fan at home and took his own life,” Medchal police said.

The case has been registered.
