Home Minister V. Anitha on Sunday visited the family of a minor girl who was raped and murdered at Alivelumanga Puram in Vadamalapet mandal of Tirupati district. She handed over the ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh announced by the state government and assured the bereaved family of speedy justice by pledging to take stringent action against the accused and pledging to support the family, including building a house.

Condemning the crime, the Interior Minister expressed deep sadness over the incident. “The brutal attack on this innocent child is devastating,” she said. She added that the accused allegedly lured the victim with chocolate before committing the crime. “The government will not rest until the accused faces severe punishment. “Steps are being taken to ensure that he is sentenced within two to three months,” she confirmed.
Talking to the media, Anitha said that Prime Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to expedite processing of cases of violence against women and children through fast-track courts. “The Chief Minister has directed that no stone should be left unturned to bring justice to this family,” she said, promising that police authorities would respond quickly to similar incidents in the future.
The minister criticized the opposition YSRC, accusing them of politicizing the incident for political gains. “It is unfortunate and disturbing that the opposition is trying to exploit this tragedy. Where was she during similar incidents during her term?” – she asked. Citing recent cases under opposition governments, she argued that the lack of decisive action against such crimes in the past undermined their current outrage.
“We are committed to creating a safer Andhra Pradesh. The current administration has undertaken significant reforms to strengthen law enforcement,” the Home Secretary said.

“Unlike the previous government, which allegedly allowed addiction to spread and neglected supervision, the current government is working to strengthen safety. She pointed to increased CCTV coverage across the state, including in remote areas, and increased anti-drug measures as part of efforts to reduce crime.” “We are cracking down on illegal drugs through the anti-drug wing. “Providing youth with protection from these influences is a priority,” she said, emphasizing that ganja cultivation has been significantly reduced and a targeted campaign is underway to completely eradicate the cultivation. The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, adding that the NDA government remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare and safety of women.
