Morrissey’s concert in Dallas was interrupted after fans stormed the stage

One security guard apparently suffered a leg injury after a handful of overzealous fans moved towards the singer during the encore

MorrisseyA concert in Dallas was interrupted Saturday after overzealous fans stormed the stage and tried to embrace the singer, and a security guard was apparently injured in the chaos.

A video from a concert at the Music Hall in Fair Park shows that during the encore of “First of the Gang to Die”, the stage was bombarded by fans who tried to get close to the singer, a reportedly common occurrence at Morrissey shows. However, after two fans managed to hug him and shake his hands, more fans took over the stage, leaving security scrambling to clear the stage while Morrissey was pushed between admirers and staff.

After one encore song, Morrissey was eventually pushed off the stage, with one of the security guards limping off after injuring his leg after trying to remove the fan. The crowd then booed the abrupt end to the show, which ended one or two songs ahead of schedule, in keeping with Morrissey’s final setlist.

“Stage invasions are very common at Morrissey concerts, but this one looked particularly sloppy. It’s unclear whether it was Morrissey who decided to leave the scene or whether it was directed by the crew, but it seemed like the fans took it a bit too far.” – George Allen, host of the Morrissey Podcast he said Manchester Evening News after the incident.
