Walz appeals to Wisconsin voters: Elections ‘can be won’ through the state

Former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney responded to former President Donald Trump’s attacks on her in a Monday interview on ABC’s “The View,” including a remark in which he suggested she should “have a gun pointed in her face.”

“He knows what he’s doing,” Cheney said. “He knows it is a threat intended to intimidate. Of course, intimidation won’t work.”

Cheney highlighted Trump’s history of violent rhetoric, including his response to the violence on January 6.

“For over three hours he watched police officers being brutally beaten. He was told the vice president had been evacuated, so he said, ‘So what?'” Cheney said. “The people were in a hurry and begged him, ‘Tell the crowd to leave,’ and he didn’t want to.”

“With this level of depravity, he knows there is no defense against it, and he knows the American people will not again put anyone in power who would do something so cruel,” she continued. “And since he can’t answer that, he tries to change the subject, he tries to threaten. In this way, autocrats try to silence their political opponents.”
