SARALAND, Alabama (WALA) – According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a man shot during approx Shooting in Saraland October 31 is currently wanted for allegedly murdering his girlfriend.

On October 31, Saraland Police Chief JC West told FOX10 News that a U.S. Marshals task force was searching Florida for a subject accused of murder.

OCSO said it identified the victim as Jorge Quintero, who is currently wanted for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, 29-year-old Carmen Elsa Escalante Carrera.

Deputies said they first visited Quintero’s Florida home on Oct. 29 after family members reported he was suicidal. When they arrived, Quintero and his girlfriend were gone.

Detectives tracked Quintero to Alabama, where he was found Thursday in the parking lot of a Saraland shopping center. There, U.S. marshals confronted him, which led to a shootout that left Quintero seriously wounded and taken to the hospital.

OCSO told FOX10 News that hours after the shooting, Georgia authorities found a structure where they suspected a body might be located.

Over the weekend, Georgian authorities determined that the body found was Carrera, Quintero’s girlfriend.
