A murder investigation in Plymouth after a stabbing victim dies

Police have confirmed that a man has died following a stabbing in Plymouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to Cambridge Road at around 14:30 GMT on Monday after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed.

In a statement published on Tuesday, the police said that a 36-year-old man from Plymouth was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation was launched.

Det Ch Insp Steve Fleetwood, the senior investigating officer on the case, said cordons remained in place and officers were searching for the two men.

He added that the men’s identities are known to the police and “an investigation is ongoing to find them.”

Fleetwood said there would be an “increased police presence” in the coming days as officers gathered evidence in an effort to “bring the perpetrator to justice on behalf of the victim’s family”.

“At this time I would like to reassure the community in Plymouth and beyond that there is no suggestion that there is an increased risk to members of the public,” he said.

Fleetwood added that a weapon that may have been used in the incident had been confiscated. He confirmed that it was “not any form of firearm.”
