Court records show Fountain Hills man accused of attacking children on electric bikes in Scottsdale

Court records show Scottsdale police arrested a man after he threw a minor off an electric bike and crashed his car into another minor.

Court records show Richard Davidson, 52, of Fountain Hills faces aggravated robbery and aggravated assault charges after he pulled two minors off their e-bikes Friday near Via Linda and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

Court records show Davidson was caught on street corner cameras throwing an electric bicycle into the road and chasing the minor until he fell to the ground.

Court records show he told the officer he saw minors riding bicycles in the street and was frustrated by their behavior.

Court records show one of the juveniles tried to call police, but Davidson took the phone.

Court records show Davidson took both minors’ phones, telling them he was going to call their parents, but refused to return the phones.

Video footage shows that as Davidson drove away, he headed toward one of the juveniles who was in the street, according to court records.

He then left the area.

Police found Davidson near 124th Street and East Cochise Drive.

When police asked why Davidson didn’t just report minors in the road, Davidson replied that he had called in the past, but that “this was the fourth time,” according to court records.

Davidson reportedly told police he didn’t like kids on electric bikes and moved out of Scottsdale because of the electric bikes, court records show.

Davidson faces a total of five charges – two counts of robbery, two counts of aggravated assault on a minor and one count of leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death.
