Tamil Nadu: Governor Ravi Vs MK Stalin Again, Now In ‘Insulting National Anthem, Assembly’ Case – Tamil Nadu News

The winter session of the Tamil Nadu assembly started with high drama on the first day as Governor RN Ravi walked out without delivering the usual speech and opposition parties staged protests inside the assembly.

Governor Ravi skipped a speech during the first session of the state legislative assembly, mentioning serious violations regarding the national anthem.

According to a statement from the Raj Bhawan office, upon the governor’s arrival at the gathering, instead of the national anthem traditionally played on such occasions, only the national anthem ‘Tamil Tai Vazhthu’ was played.

Governor Ravi left the House in “deep anguish” over the “brazen disrespect” to the Constitution and the national anthem, the Raj Bhavan said in a statement.

In a post on the official handle of the The Governor respectfully reminded the House of its constitutional duty and made an earnest appeal to the First Minister, who is the Speaker of the House and the honorable Speaker, to sing the national anthem. However, they perversely refused. This is a matter of grave concern. In order not to participate in such brazen disrespect for the Constitution and the National Anthem, the Governor left the House in deep pain.”

Prime Minister MK Stalin condemned the governor, saying Ravi had “introduced the habit of violating the Constitution”.

THE OPPOSITION STARTS PROTESTS ABOUT SEXUAL ASSAULT

Besides, the AIADMK created a ruckus in the assembly by displaying badges and posters saying ‘yaar antha sir’ (who is ‘sir’) in connection with the Anna University sexual assault case.

MLAs and leaders of the All Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam held posters and banners protesting against the alleged sexual assault in the university, demanding justice for the student.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders staged a strike over the same issue.
