Significant update on Jimmy Butler’s potential move to Memphis Grizzlies Trade

Significant update on Jimmy Butler’s potential move to Memphis Grizzlies Trade

Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler has been involved in NBA trade rumors for several weeks. The situation escalated recently when Butler was suspended by the Heat for seven games as the team admitted it no longer wanted to be in Miami.

Via Miami Heat, January 3: “We have suspended Jimmy Butler for seven games due to repeated conduct detrimental to the team throughout the season and particularly over the last few weeks. Through his actions and statements, he has shown that he no longer wants to be part of this team. Jimmy Butler and his representative have stated that they want to be sold, so we will listen to offers.”

While it has been reported that Butler is open to being traded anywhere, a new report indicates that he does not want to be traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Via NBA insider Chris Haynes: “League sources have just told me that the Memphis Grizzlies, along with several other teams, have received word that Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is not interested in being traded to the club. The message is that there should be no attempt to acquire an All-Star forward.”

As Haynes noted, Butler can become an unrestricted free agent this offseason and is expected to do so. This means that any team wanting to make a six-time NBA All-Star appearance would do so on a rental basis unless there was a mutual interest in a long-term partnership.
