Army jawan shoots at each other in Jammu and Kashmir blames woman for blackmail

A 27-year-old army jawan shot himself dead in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging harassment and blackmail by the woman and her accomplices. According to police, the incident took place on January 4 in Kashmir’s Poonch.

The jawan was identified as Krishna Kumar Yadav, a resident of Amarsar village in Jaipur. In his suicide note, Yadav described an incident that took place two years ago and has been bothering him ever since.

Yadav said he was visiting Jeenmat in Rajasthan’s Sikar district with his friends two years ago when he was drugged and filmed in a compromising situation with a woman. In the note, he mentioned that the perpetrators allegedly blackmailed him with a video and extorted him an amount of Rs 15 lakh.

Yadav said his military service obligations prevented him from filing a police complaint, leaving him with no option.

Meanwhile, Yadav’s family refused to perform his last rites and demanded the arrest of those mentioned in his note. They alleged that he endured prolonged torture that ultimately led to his death.

Confirming the development, senior police officer Mukesh Chaudhary said Yadav’s body was sent to his village on Tuesday after post-mortem.

A case was registered against the accused at Amarsar police station following a complaint lodged by the family. The family appealed to the police not to let the perpetrators go unpunished.
