Four family members, including two minors, were injured after perfume bottles exploded in an apartment in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. On Friday, police said they were trying to change the expiration dates of perfume bottles. The accident occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday in room number 112 of Roshni’s apartment in Nalla Sopara on the outskirts of Mumbai.

Treatment is ongoing

Police identified the victims as Mahavir Vadar (41), Sunita Vadar (38), Kumar Harshvardhan Vadar (9) and Kumari Harshada Vadar (14). Citing initial reports, the official said the explosion occurred during an attempt to change the expiration dates of perfume bottles, which may have involved flammable substances.

Police said Kumar Harshvardhan is under treatment at Life Care Hospital in Nalla Sopara and the others are being treated at Oscar Hospital in the same area.

Palghar suicide case

In another case from Palghar, Maharashtra, police arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly abetting his wife’s suicide. According to police, the wife, a 39-year-old doctor, confronted the man after learning that he was allegedly having an extramarital affair. Since then, the accused have been abusing her, the woman’s family said in the complaint.

Police say he worked on a cargo ship but never stayed with his wife at their Vasai home on the outskirts of Mumbai when he was off duty.

The woman hanged herself from the ceiling of her home on January 6. Police said her family produced certain documents to support their claims that her husband encouraged her to take such a drastic step.

Maharashtra CM on crime in Pune

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis he answered a question about ‘koyta’ gangs and the murder of a woman in a parking lot and said that Pune is a huge city and it would be wrong to say that crime is increasing here.

“Every crime case must be taken seriously and the police have managed to nab the accused in all cases. It is true that some cases have occurred, but considering the vastness of Pune, it would be wrong to say that crime is increasing. We attach special importance to each case. Moreover, the CCTV network is being expanded to curb crime,” he said.
