A woman died after being hit by her husband who backed out of a driveway in NW Harris County, investigators say

Harris County, Texas (KTRK) — A husband has been charged in connection with his wife’s death after the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said he allegedly hit her late Friday evening in northwest Harris County.

Officers responded to a home in the 14000 block of Autumn Mist Court shortly after 10 p.m. and found an injured woman lying under a red 2014 Kia ​​Optima.

HCSO said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said a man at the scene, identified as the victim’s husband, was in the car and reportedly accelerated while backing out of the driveway while his wife stood outside.

The services reported that she was probably trying to get into the vehicle.

HCSO says the man struck his wife and continued to reverse until he hit a curb and a tree, trapping the car on his wife.

According to the officers’ findings, the man was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested on the spot. According to HCSO, he faces charges of manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol.

Newly elected Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare also arrived on the scene.

This incident is being investigated by the HCSO Vehicular Crimes Unit.
