Five people were killed and several injured when a truck collided with a tempo in Nashik, Maharashtra

At least five people were killed and several others injured in a tempo collision with a truck in Nashik, Maharashtra on Sunday, police said.

They added that the unfortunate incident took place at Dwarka Circle near Ayyappa Temple around 7:30 p.m.

“There were 16 passengers in the tempo vehicle that was heading to the CIDCO area. They were returning from a religious event in Niphad. The cruise control driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the back of a truck carrying iron bars. Some of the fatalities The incident took place on the spot, the condition of some of the injured is critical,” said a police officer.

The police and fire brigade immediately arrived at the scene and, with the help of residents and passers-by, immediately started a rescue operation.

Some of the injured were taken to the district hospital, others were sent to private medical facilities for treatment, the official added.

Police and health officials said the death toll could rise further as some people suffered serious injuries.
