Man released from prison accused of assaulting 2 police officers | News

A man on parole with outstanding arrest warrants has been charged with assaulting two police officers, according to a magistrate’s complaint to the Supreme Court.

John Ryan Palacios White, also known as Joe San Nicolas, 37, was charged with two counts of assault on a peace officer as a third-degree felony.

The charge contains information about committing a crime while on probation.

On Wednesday at 1:52 p.m., the police stopped a motorcycle without a license plate. Driver White initially gave police the wrong name, but officers eventually determined he had several active arrest warrants.

In the police station’s interview room, an officer undid White’s handcuffs and White ran to the door. The complaint says the second officer blocked his path and White grabbed his license plate and punched him in the mouth.

The two officers began struggling with White until White finally said, “OK, I’ve had enough,” and, according to the complaint, they sat on the floor.

White, who had previous convictions for misdemeanor drug possession, harassment and domestic violence, was released in 2018.

The 2018 charges include aggravated assault, domestic violence and breach of court order.

If convicted of the current charges, he could face up to 35 years in prison.

He was ordered held on $3,000 bail.
