11 people were injured in a scaffold collapse in Hong Kong, 4 in critical condition

As a result of the collapse of scaffolding at the construction site of a new hospital in Kai Tak in Hong Kong, 11 workers, including four in critical condition, were injured.

The 60 by 20 meters (197 feet by 66 feet) bamboo structure collapsed on Monday around 4 p.m.

Two workers were trapped at a site on Shing Cheong Road where an acute care hospital is being built. Once completed, the facility is expected to be one of the largest hospitals in the city.

The worker, one of four people considered critically injured, was said to be semiconscious when she was rescued.

All four critical cases were treated at United Christian Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The condition of one of the other injured is serious, the condition of the other is stable.
