The complaints range from defamation and disinformation to violations of electoral ethics and social harmony.

The first FIR, filed on January 13, accuses AAP of circulating a social media post containing “inflammatory” remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

The FIR alleges that these activities violated multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Information Technology Act and Representation of People Act as well as the Model Code of Conduct.

The post, marked as a deliberate attempt to stir up public sentiment, included animated caricatures of key political figures.

“The social media post contained inflammatory remarks against the Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. The dissemination of the message by the Aam Adami Party is a serious violation of electoral ethics and good democratic customs,” the FIR stated.

The second FIR centers on a morphed social media post attributed to AAP that allegedly misrepresented Amit Shah’s voice. The post was accused of spreading misinformation and inciting communal tensions in Delhi.

“The social media post, which was created and shared by AAP, contains the morphed and fabricated voice of the Home Minister of India, which spreads misinformation and which has been spread by AAP, its convener and officials with the intention to spread hatred and destroy communal harmony among the citizens of Delhi and tarnishing the reputation of the Home Minister of India, who holds a constitutional position and is also a member of the BJP. The content shared through these posts contains unverified claims and allegations made by the Home Minister of India without any credible sources or factual basis,” reads the copy of the FIR.

The third FIR, lodged in connection with posts against the Prime Minister, claims that the content shared on January 9 and 10 contained doctored photos and false claims intended to tarnish the Prime Minister’s reputation. The post allegedly made an offensive reference to the prime minister’s official residence.

The fourth FIR centers on a tweet by an AAP member who allegedly spread false information about the prime minister’s official residence, claiming that it houses luxury rooms for storing personal belongings.

The FIR stated that the tweet was fabricated to mislead the public and tarnish the office of the Prime Minister.

The fifth FIR accuses top AAP leaders of making inflammatory statements against people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on January 9, 2025.

The complaint alleged that their statements were discriminatory in nature and intended to create communal tension, violating the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Representation of People Act.

Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed against AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct by using a government vehicle for political purposes.

Police said a complaint was received regarding a violation of MCC regulations. On Tuesday, officials said an FIR was registered at the Govindpuri police station in southeast Delhi following a complaint lodged by an officer returning from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency.

The complaint details that a vehicle belonging to the Public Works Department (PWD) under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) is being used for political purposes.

Delhi CM and AAP leader Atishi responded to the complaint and told the media, “The whole country saw how Parvesh Verma distributed 1100. Later, Parvesh Verma himself tweeted that he was organizing a health camp and modalities for distribution. He then handed out sheets with his name on them. However, the Election Commission does not see any violation of the MCC in this. The question arises – who are the police with? Is there pressure on EC officials? We hope that the EC’s commitment to free and fair elections will be implemented in practice.”
