Police say a man shot himself following a hit-and-run accident on the Westpark Tollway

According to Sugar Land police, a man has been charged with aggravated assault.

SUGAR LAND, Texas – A man has been charged with a crime after investigators say he shot himself during a hit-and-run crash Sunday night.

According to Sugar Land police, the incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on the Westpark Tollway near the 8 Beltway.

SLPD investigators said a man pulled out a gun during a traffic accident involving a woman driving another vehicle.

Investigators say that during an argument between the drivers, the gun the man was holding went off and he shot himself in the arm.

He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive, according to Sugar Land police. The woman involved in the incident was not injured.

The man was later charged with aggravated assault. His identity has not been revealed.
